Joe Pantoliano (September 12, 1951) is an actor who portrayed Francis Fratelli in The Goonies.
Life and career[]
Born on September 12, 1951 in Hoboken, New Jersey as Joseph Peter Pantoliano, Pantoliano studied at HB Studio to become an actor.
His first appearances in film included Road Movie and For Pete's Sake, the latter of which he was uncredited for, but his breakout performance was as the character Guido in Risky Business. This, along with his role in The Goonies, gave him an interest in being a character actor for roles involving criminals and shady characters.
Other notable roles from Pantoliano include The Fugitive, The Matrix, Memento, and the Bad Boys franchise.
He also acted for a number of television shows, such as M*A*S*H and NYPD Blue. He portrayed the character of Ralph Cifaretto in The Sopranos' third and fourth season. He also appeared in the Netflix original series Sense8 as the character Michael Gorski.
Trivia[]
- Pantoliano often goes by the nickname Joey Pants - he received it during his childhood due to people being unable to pronounce his last name. On the set of The Goonies, the child actors all referred to him by this nickname.
